Our design seamlessly merges the home’s Spanish Mission-style architecture with Japanese inspired joinery, modern farmhouse charm and furniture influenced by the Post-Modern and Bauhaus eras. This sophisticated blend, tailored for a family of four, emphasises warmth, longevity, and practicality.

The home’s intuitive layout, well-proportioned spaces, and attention to natural light, ventilation, and garden views ensures a tranquil ambiance year-round. Materials are chosen for durability and elegance, with rich finishes and thoughtful joinery enhancing the family’s everyday lives. The project crafts a peaceful sanctuary where every detail speaks of home, inviting the family to cherish moments together in comfort and style.

Responding to the client's wish for a serene separation between the children’s bedrooms and living spaces, a unique solution was crafted: French doors and a pocket glass sliding door. Affectionately dubbed the 'Get-Smart chamber' in a playful nod to the 1960’s American parody, this charming addition addresses the family’s practical demands with sophistication.

Carefully crafted Japanese blinds in the hallway and rear living volume emit a soft, inviting glow when lowered, while textured Roman blinds gently illuminate the intimate front bedrooms.

Drawing inspiration from Japanese joinery, the hallway unit acts as a practical centrepiece, accommodating a linen cupboard, school bag packing zone, and drawers for household tools and bulk-buy items – all tailored to the needs of the growing family. Sliding doors ensure generous circulation space, streamlining the family’s morning routine.

Every detail has been meticulously considered to enhance the home’s access to natural light. In the powder room, a skylight discreetly tucked behind a curved plaster ceiling softly bathes the textured Japanese tiled walls in sunlight, creating a moody ambiance – a pleasantly unexpected contrast to the home’s overall brightness and airiness.

The home seamlessly integrates diverse design influences, enhanced through a curated selection of furniture. Vintage Danish pieces, like the window desk chair, sit alongside timeless classics, such as the burgundy Maralunga sofa. This thoughtful mix of styles and eras offers enduring appeal, ensuring the interior remains unaffected by passing trends.

Designed for the clients to appreciate the little joys, a sculpted, freestanding desk provides a reposeful nook to enjoy morning reading, overlooking the garden’s majestic Angaphora tree. Artworks of various scales, textures, and styles are thoughtfully combined, enhancing the sense of character and charm.

The design carefully preserves the original panelled doors, ornate ceilings, front rooms and façade of the Spanish Mission-style home, celebrating its unique architectural history.
